Swain County High School's Ian Roper has been selected to receive a Kenan Fellowship.
Established in 2000 by the Kenan Institute for Engineering, Technology & Science at North Carolina State University, the fellowship offers K-12 educators STEM industry-based professional development, fostering education-business partnerships within local communities.
The selected educators will participate in a three-week summer immersion experience with a local industry partner, where they will gain knowledge and resources to develop innovative lessons and programs for your school, district, and the wider education community.
In addition to this immersive experience, Kenan Fellows benefit from 80 hours of professional development focused on leadership skills and enhancing teaching practices, while continuing to serve in their educational roles. Upon completion, educators earn 9.2 CEUs as recommended by NCDPI.
