Here are more pictures from East Elementary 5K run Saturday.

East Run Club is coached by Ciera Wiggins and Sarah Bradley. This club has been practicing at East Elementary every Monday and Thursday after school and consists of over 40 students. On Saturday, May 18th at 7:15 am 25 East students were present, including one Pre-K jogger who completed the Strawberry Jam 5K! Another East student, Kree Stephenson completed the Half Marathon in 2 hours and 8 minutes! Charlie Clapsaddle, 5th Grade, finished fifth overall and first in his age group with a time of 21:59. James Gunter, 2nd Grade, came in second in his age group at 24:47.5, followed by Kirk Reed, 2nd Grade, third in his age group at 24:47.8. Rory Wachacha, 2nd Grade, finished first in her age group with a time of 26:32 followed by Aydah Nations, 2nd Grade, second in her age group, and finished with a time of 32:12. Lastly, Zooey Roughton, 5th Grade, finished third in her age group with a time of 29:53. This has been an incredible first season for this group and we could not be more proud of all of these future Swain Runners!

Tonight at 7pm, our very own award winning Swain High Concert Band will be performing in the Swain Arts Center. There will also be a special performance by the amazing Mountain Winds Community Band. You do not want to miss this free concert.

Congratulations to our Tribal Merit Winners from East Elementary School. Our Tribal Merit winners are Dwyane Wachacha (K), Shaylee Fuller (K), Aydin Welch (1st), Azrael Corbin (1st), Asher Phillips (2nd), Sophia Youngbird (2nd), Eliyas Toineeta (3rd), Haelynn Pheasant (3rd), Cade Dills (Not Pictured, 4th), Annabelle Jenkins (4th), Braelyn Lambert (5th), Jozie Smith (5th) and Wadulisi Sluder (5th) Wadulisi Sluder received the Best All Around Award!

Caleb Jenkins from Bright Adventures Pre-K received the 1% More Award at tonight's board meeting. Caleb has grown as a LEADER this year - using his voice to make sure everyone is included in the activities the Student Lighthouse Leaders plan! Congratulations!

At this afternoon's school board meeting, three students from SMS were recognized as the 1% Better award recipients! Swain Middle School is so proud of Conner Bowman in the 8th grade, Daniel Brooks in the 7th grade, and Mellayna Schenck in the 6th grade! Thank you for giving your "best and then some"!

Volleyball Workouts

Yesterday Kindergarten from West Elementary had their graduation.Aloha Kindergarten 🌴🏖️🌺 Look out 1st Grade here they come! BEST day ever celebrating our kindergarten students and all their many accomplishments this year ❤️

Hayden Brogard, Justin Brown and Bentley Harris were presented for awards showcasing their extra efforts!! So proud of these kids, all three hard workers and giving extra effort every day.

This week at Bright Adventures, students learned about dinosaurs. In Mrs. Penny and Mrs. Elise’s class students also learned the difference in carnivores, herbivores, and omnivores. Fortunately for Eliyah White, the dinosaur she has decided to sit on is a herbivore!

SCHS is having a "Win This Guitar" Raffle until next Wednesday, May 22nd when the drawing will be held! The raffle prize is a 2012 Fender Alkaline Trio Malibu (SN: CSE12003744). The Student Lighthouse Leaders of Bright Adventures celebrated a very successful year of leadership this afternoon - this team was integral in achieving Lighthouse Status! A very special thank you to Ms. Jennifer for her work with this team of #TinySwainScholars.

Pre-K celebrating Teacher Appreciation Week with the Ice cream Float Mobile!

Last week, Swain High celebrated our amazing teachers and staff with treats that were truly out of this world! 🚀🌟 👨‍🏫👩‍🏫 Teacher Appreciation Week was filled with stellar appreciation activities to recognize the incredible work our teachers and staff do every day: 🚀 Monday: Our teachers were treated to a galactic goody treat straight from the office, setting the tone for an extraordinary week ahead! 🍔 Tuesday: We took a "launch" break with a sizzling BBQ sponsored by the central office, fueling our team with delicious food and camaraderie. ☀️ Wednesday: Was a "sun"sational day as Mrs. B, Mr. T, and Denene brightened everyone's lunchtime with heavenly sweets, making midweek feel like a delightful breeze. ☕ Thursday: We soared through the day with a "cosmic" coffee break, thanks to our high-flying administration delivering tasty coffee drinks right to our doorsteps. 🎁 Friday: As the week drew to a close, our stellar staff got to pick up their "Swain Swag" Maroon Devil shirts, a token of our gratitude for their dedication and hard work. 👏 Thank you to our incredible teachers and staff for everything you do!
